600D is good enough and i like the results.. may i also suggest D3200 by nikon.. i think around the same price range..

365/365. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish. on Flickr.

365 ends.
And this is exactly how I feel. Its like the last day of school before summer vacations. Like a long awaited holiday. Starting today. I have plans and ways to spend my summer (If we are still speaking that metaphor). But first, a recap.

The reason I did a 365 was because I wasn’t making enough use of my camera. My pictures told the story - I was doing the same thing over and over and over again. So I took the leap.
The first month was a breeze. New ideas, new pictures. I following months brought in the burn. I was in a rut again. Same stuff, same pictures. I did learn a lot. Indoor lighting, macro, street, portraiture, smoke photography, sunsets, levitation, lightroom, to name a few (yes, even baby pictures and flower pictures).
My pictures were featured lot on the web during this time.

-I got to write a tutorial online. Read it here.
-I got featured as a photographer. Read it here.
-Covered my first wedding ceremony (the one that I got paid for). See the pictures here
-Got on an invite from Getty Images.

After 365 pictures in the last year and 2 months, I’m not even close to understanding what type of photography I like most. I discovered Street Photography which comes the closest to qualify as my favourite genre. Basically anything involving people and portraiture.

And I hated 365. It was such a royal pain in the neck. More so because its a commitment that’s online. So I had people breathing down on my neck (literally!) to upload pictures. Most of the time I didn’t feel creative and it shows. But in all I think even if I managed 20 awesome pictures in the last year or so, that’s cool with me.

That bring me to the important question. What now?

I don’t know the answer to that but I’ll definitely be taking more pictures. And the blog would get a revamp soon. (Yes! I do have a blog —> The Lensor: Tumblr). With more pictures and a proper theme (Something that a sweet friend has been bugging me about from a long time and something that I’ve been procrastinating due to the 365. Now that the 365 is over I don’t really see a reason why that shouldn’t happen). So a lot more exploring. More words on the blog and more pictures.

Now technically it was supposed to be a Pune Bandh yesterday but you can still spot those less than eager souls who defied the norm and had the shops half open.
Fear/Respect it what you may, Pune was dead yesterday.

I somehow caught this, a common shopkeeper eager to have his shop open again waiting for someone to take the initiative.

These chairs are pretty non functional. They don’t have a base and they are just propped up somehow near my place at a bus station. A perfect opportunity to take a picture without anyone ruining my frame.

I wrote a big description about my Diwali but my laptop crashed and so here’s the summary about what I did Diwali evening:
1. Went to some friends.
2. Laughed
3. Lit my house with candles.
4. Switched off the artificial lights
5. Took the camera out on the balcony and tried taking pictures of fireworks
6. Failed
7. Took this picture
8. Succeed
9. Enjoyed an hour of fireworks

I’m always torn between colour and monochrome. If you ask me, I like monochrome way more than colour (well, who doesn’t).

Especially this one. Now I’m a huge critic of my pictures but I like this one for the postery feel of it. Might as well have this blown up on canvas for myself. Who knows!
